Local Business Joins Social Media

Griffs Deli is a local restaurant in Bowling Green for those who didn't know. It is located on Scottsville road by BAC(Bowling Green Athletic Club). They serve food such as sandwiches, soups, salads and much more. I recently seen on a friends twitter were they retweeted a status from Griffs Deli stating if they reached 5000 followers they would give away a $500 dollar gift card. So, me being the broke college student I retweet the post and started following the local deli.

Within three days Griffs Deli had accomplished their goal of 500 followers and announced the winner of the gift card, unfortunately I didn't win:(! Griffs has also been having similar contest for their Facebook friends. Today they post this status "Griffs Deli-Don't forget tomorrow at noon we will post a question and the first one to answer correctly will be Facebook Fan of the Week". These statuses keep the audience on Facebook excited and involved with the local business. This makes fans and customers feel that they are a part of the growing experience. I would be curious to know how much revenue has gone up since they have established these social media sites and became consistent with their posts.

Promote a local Business today and become friends on Facebook, just search Griffs Deli.

  1. I've noticed Griff's presence on social media lately too. They seem like they've just jumped into it and really embraced social media as a whole. They are setting the standard and the bar high for other local BG businesses to catch on. I hope their presence will encourage other Bowling Green businesses to do the same. I follow Griff's on Twitter and Facebook now just because they give out such great deals and I have to admit I love their food!

  2. I think it's amazing that a local business in a town like Bowling Green can be so social media focused. After we talked about this in class last week, I checked Twitter and one of my friends had retweeted that same thing from Griff's. The fact that Griff's is constantly staying on their social media sites and people are seemingly on the edge of their seats is great for business. I agree, I'm interested to know how much their profits have increased in the past few months. Personally, I'm much more aware of Griff's, solely based on retweets from friends and I don't even follow them yet. I wouldn't be surprised if places like Buckhead, Baker Bros. or Linzie's follows in their social media path soon.

  3. I feel that Bowling Green is a little behind the curve on social media. However, I agree that efforts like Griff's will promote the use of social media within the area. That is pretty crazy how fast they reached their mark of 500 followers. Also, your friend retweeting it just shows the power of viral marketing! It is definitely working for them and other companies. Besides, we love the discounts and 'freebies.'

  4. That's awesome that a BG local business has embraced social media. Like Rob said, this city seems to be a bit behind in the social media world. The promos that Griff's is doing appeal to college students especially. They're taking advantage of being in a university town and it seems to be working!
